What is MENTBEST?

MENTBEST is a European project designed to improve emotional well-being within the community and prevent depression and suicide. Coordinated in Catalonia by Dr. Benedikt Amann from the Hospital del Mar, MENTBEST follows a community-based approach based on a successful European 4-level intervention program. Over 20 years ago, this program was developed by the European Alliance Against Depression (EAAD) and has proven its effectiveness in more than 17 countries.

In Catalonia, MENTBEST has chosen the city of Santa Coloma de Gramenet to develop this project due to its diversity, strong sense of community, and the commitment of its organizations. Over the next two years, the MENTBEST team will work in collaboration with the local government, local entities, and health services to support the community. We will provide special support to vulnerable groups in Santa Coloma, such as young people, the elderly, migrants, unemployed individuals, and those with mental health disorders. We will also include access to digital materials that will allow citizens to improve the self-management of their mental health through psychoeducational tips.

This pioneering project reflects Santa Coloma's commitment to the emotional well-being of its population, especially in times of change and global crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, which have increased mental health issues.

Santa Coloma AllIied Against Depression is the local name for MENTBEST in the city, and it reflects our commitment to reaching out to the city's residents and providing clear information and training on depression and suicide. We will do this through various campaigns tailored to the needs of both individuals and professionals. We encourage you to check out our upcoming activities in the Agenda section.
